Holiday open house kicks off Arcata Mainstreet celebrations on Friday

Enjoy the sights, sounds and cheer of this holiday season as Arcata Main Street celebrates the 2008 Season of Wonder and Light in Downtown Arcata. Visit the Plaza to hear some live music, check out the special window displays and take a picture by the decorated, grand tree in Jacoby’s storehouse. Businesses will be open until 9 p.m. on Dec. 5, 12 and 19.

Arcata holiday open house, 6-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5

Santa arrives on an antique fire truck at the Arcata Plaza at 6 p.m. accompanied by the HSU Marching Lumberjacks. Santa will be in Arcata Photo Studio in Jacoby’s Storehouse noon to 4 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday from Dec. 5 to Dec. 19.

More than 40 shops will be decorated for the holiday season with art and music in each. Arcata’s local merchants will share treats, holiday cheer, gift previews and much more.
