HSU Accepts Freshmen Applications Until March 1

Transfer students will have until June 1 to ensure spot in fall 2010 classes

ARCATA -- Humboldt State University’s Admissions Office will accept freshmen applications for Fall 2009-Spring 2010 until March 1. Transfer students will have until June 1 to apply.
Director of Admissions Scott Hagg emphasized California State University’s system-wide enrollment cap doesn’t mean an early cutoff at Humboldt State.

“We encourage students to apply now and make arrangements for financial aid promptly,” Hagg said, “but they have until March 1 to apply and March 2 to submit forms to seek financial assistance.”

Although enrollment caps are in place at some CSU campuses, many continue to accept applications for the 2009-2010 academic year, including Sacramento State and CSU Stanislaus.

“But for students wanting to limit transportation and other expenses, Humboldt State is ideal for local and regional college-bound students,” Hagg noted. “And California State University remains one of the best education buys in the country.”

Students can apply online at www.csumentor.edu. The Admissions Office will contact students if their transcripts are needed.

The Admissions Office also offers a one-stop application page to register for on-campus housing or apply for financial aid. The first step for financial assistance is filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, at www.csumentor.edu, the Financial Aid Office’s Web site.

The deadline for priority review is March 2, so students are encouraged to complete the form as soon as possible. The Financial Aid Office can be reached at (866) 255-1390.
